India

Foreign filmmakers are increasingly drawn to India, with its breathtaking natural landscapes, technical infrastructure and low production costs.

Filming in India

India presents immense opportunities to professionals involved in every aspect of film production. In addition to its breathtaking natural landscapes and distinctive historical sites, the country boasts some of the most spectacular monuments, scenery, and other wonders that have been a source of inspiration for filmmakers for many years.

Foreign filmmakers and directors are increasingly drawn to India, thanks to its well-trained personnel, advanced transportation system, top-notch hospitality services, and cutting-edge technical infrastructure. This is evident in the fact that several Hollywood movies, such as Extraction (2020), Tenet (2020), A Suitable Boy (2020), Victoria & Abdul (2017), Viceroy’s House (2017), London Has Fallen (2016), The Hundred Foot Journey (2014), Jobs (2013), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and Batman (2012), have been set in India.

India’s appeal as a filming destination is further boosted by its low production costs and a favorable dollar-rupee exchange rate. With thousands of films and television series shot in the country each year, foreign producers planning to shoot their documentaries or movies can take advantage of the latest technology, state-of-the-art equipment, and highly skilled staff, including talented actors and actresses who are fluent in English. In terms of casting, there is a diverse range of ethnic and cultural looks available. Post-production houses equipped with cutting-edge technology for editing, VFX, animation, 3D stereoscopy, and audio can be found in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore.
